The Hu - Warrior Chant Tour

The Hu are a rock band from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, who fuse heavy, riff-driven rock with traditional Mongolian instruments and khöömei throat singing. They broke through when their early videos racked up tens of millions of views online, and have since toured arenas and festivals worldwide. They describe their style as 'hunnu rock', after the ancient Hunnu empire.

Alongside standard rock instrumentation, the band play the morin khuur (the Mongolian horsehead fiddle), the tovshuur (a Mongolian lute) and traditional flutes, layered under guttural throat singing. The combination is enormous in a live room, it's what makes their shows unlike anything else touring.

The rhythms, the riffs and the sheer force of the delivery carry the night, and the crowd chants along phonetically.
