Boscombe Beach is the sporty heart of the Bournemouth coast the go-to stretch for surfers, paddleboarders and anyone who wants to get out on the water. Centred on its own restored Victorian pier, it has a livelier, more independent feel than the town-centre sands, with a string of surf schools and hire shops right on the front.
Watersports
This is Bournemouth’s watersports hub. Surf schools run lessons for all ages, and you can hire boards, wetsuits and stand-up paddleboards by the hour. Poole Bay’s sheltered swell makes it a friendly place to learn, whether you’re chasing your first wave or gliding out on a calm-morning paddle.
On the beach
Away from the water there’s plenty of soft golden sand, colourful beach huts, cafés and ice-cream kiosks, plus summer lifeguard cover. The pier and its surrounding square give the beach a sociable, community atmosphere.
Nearby
Walk out along Boscombe Pier for the view, head west to the resort’s main Bournemouth Beach, or continue east to the quieter sands of Southbourne Beach.
