Coffee Reef is a small seafront café on Pier Approach, tucked into Bournemouth's busy promenade between the beach and the pier entrance, close to the Oceanarium. It's built for passing trade rather than a sit-down meal, a quick, reliable stop for a coffee, a snack or an ice cream on the way to or from the sand.
What's on offer
The café's focus is coffee: it serves the Miko's Puro Fairtrade blend, freshly brewed by staff who go through regular barista training. Alongside that there's a simple line-up of sandwiches, snacks, ice cream and cold drinks, with everything available to take away if you'd rather carry on along the front. Where it sits
Location is the main draw. Coffee Reef sits right at Pier Approach, opposite the entrance to Bournemouth Pier and a short stroll from the Oceanarium, the Lower Gardens and the town centre. It's one of a handful of small food and drink outlets clustered around the pier, coffee from the same operation is also served at the nearby Key West Bar & Grill, making it a handy refuelling point in the middle of a day on the seafront.
Good to know
The café opens seven days a week, all year round, with shorter hours in winter (roughly 10am to 5pm) stretching into a late finish through the summer months, though timings can flex around the weather and events on the promenade. There's no booking involved, it's a walk-up counter rather than a table-service café.
