Cosy Cafe is a small independent café on Tuckton Road, close to the River Stour on the eastern side of Bournemouth near Christchurch. It's easy to miss if you don't know it's there, which is rather the point, this is a neighbourhood spot built around regulars, not passing trade.
The story
The café relaunched under its current name in March 2025, when Jasmine Pugh, who had worked as chef at the previous café on the same site, Mocha Turtle, for nearly two years, took over the lease. She brought 15 years of pub industry experience with her, and the aim from day one was simple: a warm, welcoming space where "everybody knows everybody." The reopening was covered as the Bournemouth Echo's Trader of the Week, with the café described as "jam packed" and warmly received during its opening week.
What to expect
Expect a homely, unpretentious setup: hot coffee, home-cooked food and a changing run of homemade cakes, with gluten-free options among them. It's dog-friendly, and dog walkers along the nearby river became regulars almost immediately. There's talk of an evening games club too, so it's worth keeping an eye on the café's Facebook page for anything beyond the daytime menu.

Cosy Cafe keeps daytime hours, roughly 7am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday, though these have been extending further into the afternoon on weekdays as the business has settled in. As with any small independent café, it's sensible to check current hours before making a special trip, especially outside the core morning slot.
