Indian Ocean is a family-run Indian restaurant tucked just off West Cliff Road, a short walk from the Bournemouth International Centre, handy if you're catching a show or conference and fancy a curry before or after. It's been trading in the same spot for more than eight years, part of a small local group that also runs Tiien Thai.
The food
The menu mixes familiar high-street favourites with a few house Chef's Specialities, Tawa Murg, cooked on a traditional tawa with peppers, onions and cheese, and Nawabi, chicken or lamb tikka finished in a creamy, herb-spiced sauce, are both worth a look. Dishes can be prepared for vegetarians and adjusted to your preferred spice level, and staff say they're happy to accommodate requests for dishes that aren't on the printed menu. There's also a children's menu and a lassi list alongside the usual drinks.
Dine-in, takeaway or delivery
Indian Ocean covers most of the bases: you can book a table for a sit-down meal, order online for collection or delivery, or ask about the party room for a birthday or celebration. Its position close to the BIC makes it a practical choice around events at the venue, as well as for anyone staying on West Cliff.
Good to know
Evening service runs from 5pm to 11:30pm, though the exact days open aren't listed online, so it's worth ringing 01202 311222 to check before setting out, especially if you're planning around a BIC event.
