The Sensory Garden is a quiet, planted corner built around a goldfish pond, tucked inside Knyveton Gardens on the border between Bournemouth's East Cliff and Boscombe. Rather than a destination in its own right, it's a soothing pocket within a larger, well-equipped community park, somewhere to sit for a few minutes among the planting rather than a formal botanical attraction.
What's there
The garden centres on its goldfish pond, with seating and pathways designed to be accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. BCP Council has been carrying out a wider £50,000, Council-funded improvement scheme across Knyveton Gardens between 2024 and 2026, and as part of that work a solar lighting column was added to the sensory garden in September 2025 to improve visibility and security after dark.
Visiting
It's free and open access, with no gates or admission charge, and forms part of the same grounds as Knyveton Gardens, which also has tennis courts, a bowling green, a children's play area and a nature trail nearby.
